String Cheese
- No accounts, no backend server, and no analytics.
- Your songs, chords, and settings live in a database on your device.
- Searching for a song contacts the third-party tab site being searched.
- Any microphone use (such as a tuner) is processed on-device and never recorded or uploaded.
This policy explains how String Cheese ("the app") handles information. The app is published by Elevate Entertainment Enterprises.
Information the app collects
None that reaches me. String Cheese has no accounts and no backend server, and it does not collect or transmit personal information to me.
Information stored on your device
Your song library, saved chord voicings, tunings, and settings are stored in a local database on your device. If you use the export feature, the app creates a backup file that you choose where to send (for example, email or a cloud drive). That transfer is handled by you and the service you pick.
Song search
When you search for a song, the app requests that page directly from the third-party tab website being searched. That website receives standard request information such as your IP address and the search terms. The app saves the result to your device so it works offline afterward. Content from third-party sites is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Microphone
If the app includes a feature that listens to your instrument (such as a tuner), it will ask for microphone permission first. Audio is processed in real time on your device to detect pitch. It is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
Ads, analytics, and support links
The app shows no ads and includes no third-party analytics. An optional "Buy Me a Coffee" link opens buymeacoffee.com in your browser; anything you do there is governed by Buy Me a Coffee's privacy policy. The app does not verify or track support.
Children
String Cheese is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, email me and I will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export personal information about you, and to object to certain processing. Because most of this app's data never leaves your device, the simplest way to delete it is to clear the app's data or uninstall it. For anything held elsewhere, email ElevateEntertainment@proton.me and I will respond within 30 days. I do not sell your personal information.
Security
Data sent over the network uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but I keep data collection to the minimum the app needs to work.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
